If Q Nightclub's packed 6:30 a.m. room is any indication, Seattle is hungry for an early morning dance party. "Dawn Is Mine," co-sponsored by Yo Yo Yoga and the Wake, kicked off with an hour of yoga led by instructor Emily Denton of Poseurs with DJ Sharlese from KEXP providing the soundtrack. After everybody had found their zen, there was a quick break to get fueled up on complimentary coffee, juice, and snacks before a small team from dance-centric fitness outfit, Mixxedfit, stepped in to lead the crowd in some quick, high energy aerobics to get their blood pumping and their feet ready to groove. Dr. Fever was on the decks to ignite the dance party, and the whole thing was over by 10 a.m. It's a concept we've seen springing up both across the US and abroad, and now Seattle has its very own iteration. It was an awesome way to start the day, even for a namastay in bed type like myself.
